JD Jetting Power Surge Tuner ++ Euro Intake Airboot (Without Reeds) Install — 17-20 KTM 500EXC
JD Power Surge Tuner and Euro Airboot Install
Cost: ~$350
Difficulty: 1/5
Tools Needed:
- 8MM Socket with extension
- Small Torx (T15 or T20)
- Flathead screwdriver
- Zip Ties
- Plastic Cleaner/Sticker Remover
- Air Filter Rim Grease
Installing and programming the JD Jetting Power Surge 6X Tuner on the 2017-20 KTM 500 EXC-f is a breeze to compensate for a high flow exhaust and any other modifications you do, including reed removal, which we chose to do with a Euro KTM boot from Blais Racing Services.
Also, we show what the Euro air intake boot looks like that has no reeds and how to install it. The air intake boot is a real pain to get in and out, but it was very cold when this video was filmed so perhaps the rubber was just very stiff. Also, the stock US bolts that hold the air temp sensor do not work so you have to get some self tapping screws either from KTM or from the hardware store.
Right off the bat the bike seems to rev way better, pull better, and starts easier. Full review on the power increase to come soon.
